Tips For Saving Water

Chronic Over-Washing…how often should you wash your clothes?

These days it’s considered ‘normal’ to wear clothes once and throw them in the washing. But is that really necessary or are we just being lazy?

Let’s think about the consequences a moment. Washing clothes often will use more detergent, more water and more electricity. Not good.

On top of that washing too often can wear out clothes more quickly…. some clothes will even shrink while others will stretch. Really not good.

We offer these tips to help you determine how often to wash those bed sheets, jeans, shirts, socks and underwear.

  1. Underwear and socks should be washed after each wearing, but bras can be worn 2-3 times before washing.
  2. Bath towels after 3-4 uses (but they need to be air dried after each use)
  3. Pajamas should be washed after 3-4 wears
  4. Bed sheets should be washed every week but more often if you sweat a lot at night
  5. T-shirts, tank tops and camisoles should be washed after each wearing.
  6. Jeans can typically be worn 2-3 times before washing.
  7. If your clothes get stained then spot clean with OxyMagic and wash.
